YEAR 6
The theme of the Year 6 Programme is to raise awareness in different aspects of Fire Safety, Personal Safety and Travel Safety. Children at this age are likely to be going through the transition from primary to secondary school and are likely to have more freedom and independence. This age group can often take unnecessary risks in their day to day lives both inside and out of the home. This programme will raise awareness of everyday dangers and hazards and how they can be avoided to prevent accidents and injuries.
The programme is a multi-agency approach and can include input from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, Northumbria Police, Metro, Road Safety Teams and St John Ambulance.
Year 8
Our Year 8 Programme is about ‘Citizenship’ and we aim to raise awareness of how to stay safe and to encourage young people to be aware of consequences of their actions and behaviour to themselves and the wider community and the choices they make.

SUMMER SAFETY
This Campaign prepares young people for being out and about, for holidays and days out with their friends and family. Primary school children learn how to stay safe at the beach and playing near water. Fire officers teach children about the dangers of playing with matches, how to stay safe at barbeques and how to make a 999 call. Children also learn about first aid, road and travel safety during their visit.
