SafetyWorks! education involves visiting a prepared scenario, identifying the dangers and learning what steps and actions to take to avoid the risk. By making the scenarios as realistic as possible and allowing for full participation the messages have greater impact and significance to visitors and an enhanced level of knowledge is acquired and remembered.
All of our programmes are bespoke, we take care to ensure that the scenarios and lessons used are appropriate to the client.
As a school, this is a trip that you won’t want your students to miss. You will find that a visit links directly to your PSHE/Citizenship curriculum. We can take up to 50 students in one session.
A new element of our school visits is the Child Sexual Exploitation educational facility in our Community Hub area. This provides a place for young people to learn about internet safety, online grooming, 'sexting' and other potential risks posed by social media, in a comfortable and interactive setting. The sessions are delivered by our specially trained PCSOs with age appropriate content.
We enjoy welcoming diverse groups from across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and are proud that we are able to offer bespoke programmes to suit the particular needs of a group.
We run two sessions daily, morning and afternoon, and we can also offer early evening sessions for scouts, cubs, brownies, etc.
Please be aware the Centre is really busy, particularly during school term times. Bookings should be made as early as possible in advance of your chosen date. Regular visitors often book up to a year in advance.
We know that visitors will remember their visit to SafetyWorks! and we believe that if they remember their visit they are most likely to remember the safety messages they have learned.
